So I’ve done quite a few tournament reports in the past as a player, but I’ve never done one as an organizer. I just wanted to start off by thanking everyone that helped set up and head the tournaments yesterday. Hosting Runbacks was a great experience and I would love to do it again in the future. When I put the event up for Runbacks, my goal was to bring out the best in Jacksonville and help them to prepare for CEO this year. Little did I know how quickly something like this would pick up. As more people started to register, I noticed that players from out of town started to take interest as well, and with that I put up the pot incentive for the games that got the most participation. Before I realized, there were highly ranked players taking interest in participating. I’m fairly new to the fgc and didn’t know how I was going to pull this off, but I knew I was in it. I can keep rambling all day about this, but I’ll keep it short. Since last night, my brain has been almost non-stop as far as what can be done to make things better. If there are any suggestions that anyone has, I’m open to listen. For someone not having any sponsor, I’d have to say that the event turned out pretty well. Dates for future events are already in the works, so stay tuned for updates! I just wanted to thank Brandon Abdalla, Jas Laferriere, and Vedran Sunjic for running Smash, PM, and Brawl, Cool Stuff Games for being an amazing venue, Robert Williams and Malcolm Ward for casting, as well as those that helped with the last minute setups and keeping up with the brackets to ensure a smooth tournament.
