So... Last night I was driving home from dinner with my pops when I passed a frantic woman on the side of the road. I passed her but then registered in my brain that it was about 36 degrees outside and a storm was coming in. She was probably in her 50s and had only a t-shirt and what looked like some thin pajama pants on. She was waving anyone down she could. I drove back around the block remember I had my pepper spray and a car to run her over with and asked her what was going on. She had road a bus up from Centralia to surprise her aunt for her birthday but her aunt surprised herself with a trip to Sacramento California. She didnt have a cell phone and used all her money to come up... Im sure that this is not the whole story, why would you come up with ALL the money you have and none to get home? Anyways, I am a softy so I offered to give her a ride to the grey hound and give her the 22$ I had in my wallet. I know that MOST of you will give me shit about the fact that I probably just got had but I feel good about my decision because on the 2% chance that she was genuinely in an unfortunate place I did what I could do. She was so happy to get in my warm car she was crying, I almost had a mind to drive her home myself. I didnt because she didnt ask and also because I had work this morning. I dont know why I cant say no to people, or why I get choked up when I see homeless old men, but Im not sorry that I am human and I have a huge heart. Again, I know most of you think I just got had but I just want to put a reminder out there that its the season to give back. It should just be a forever thing but remember those less fortunate than you right now. Happy Holidays.
