So Mother has been in the village for quite a while now. In that time Ive grown to appreciate her role in the household. She does nearly all the cooking, cleaning, and general house warming. She does it so well and so consistantly that her efforts have gone unnoticed and under-appreciated quite easily. After the first 3wks we had a stack of dirty dishes in the sink. That never happened when Mother was around, coz the dishes magically washed themselves. We ran out of clean clothes to wear, coz we had none in our drawers. We had to go sniffing through the laundry basket to see which ones we could still wear. Now, that never happened when Mother was around, because the clothes would wash and hang themselves out to dry, then prance into the house and fold themselves up, then go into the cupboard or closet of its owner. The food that used to magically cook itself--timing it perfectly so that its ready when were hungry--didnt do that when Mother wasnt around. We had to cook on an empty stomach, then choke it down coz whatever we cooked tasted like gravel. The entire dynamics of our household fell apart! :/ Moms coming back next week, and if you ask me its about bloody time! ^_^ TO MY POINT: These 3months have got me thinking. All my life Ive wanted to marry a woman that would be on the same level as me, intellectually and career wise. Now Im not so sure thats what I want anymore. I am so lucky to have a mother that would make raising me her career. That would be so dedicated and committed to my well-being around the clock! Id like the same for my sons too. Sure, a working woman would hold down a 9-to-5, but a housewife doesnt clock-off. Her job starts the minute she wakes up and doesnt end until her house is asleep. So if I can find a woman that can do for me what my mother has been doing for my father for the past 19yrs, she would be worth more than all the promotions, the bonuses, and pay raises combined! Housewives are the people I respect the most ^_^ P.S: I have nothing against working women; I just despise the common misconception that housewives are inferior to them.
