So North Berwick meeting turned out to be not just a majority NO crowd, but pretty much a majority Tory NO crowd - they cheered the prospect of a Boris/Farage regime!!! Predominantly older and well heeled - made me wonder again how far indyref votes will correlate with how much people feel they have to lose economically? In another place and time I can imagine working on the same team as Douglas Alexander but for now the differences remain pretty sharp. There is, after all, a lot at stake. I was grateful to John Mason for his gentle reminders about tone and witness - he and Murdo Fraser do well at keeping their disagreements civil and respectful. But there are also times for passionate disagreement. Things stay the way they are because people are rarely roused and empowered to debate and challenge them. This is a political moment the like of which I have never seen in Scotland...
