So RIPD was sold out all day - so we went and saw The Way Way Back - great flick! Go see it at the theater - written and directed by Jim Rask (The Descendants) and Nat Faxon, this a coming of age story that will resonate with a lot of folks who have ever felt out of place or lost and misunderstood. The story is well written, and the cast is superb and has a lot of chemistry; some really inspired scenes both funny and poignant. Steve Carrell takes a turn at being a douchebag asshole which alone is fun to watch. Sam Rockwell is at his Sam Rockwelliest; Toni Collete, Rob Corddry and the rest of the cast is awesome - but the ones who really steal every scene they are in are the neighbors Allison Janney and River Alexander. Holy crap those two worked well together as mother and son. If you liked The Perks of Being a Wallflower, you will like this as well - and the rest of you will probably just like it anyway.
