So Ryan Air boss Michael OLeary has started wining on about the burden of air passenger duty and threatening to stop flights from Prestwick if he doesnt get his own way. This is exactly the sort of person that absolutely no-one should be listening to. I hope the SNP leadership do not get into bed with him - hes another Donald Trump! He runs his business to squeeze the maximum profit out of it treating his staff and passengers with contempt. Air travel is a polluting industry, and air passenger duty is a tax on that pollution (it would be nice to see it being spent on dealing with the effects of climate change rather than going into general coffers). Air travellers generally have high to middle incomes and are often business travellers. Air passenger duty is not a tax on the poor. Jobs are needed in Ayrshire, but cowtowing to Mr OLeary is not the way to secure high quality, secure jobs in the long term.
