So...... Who is doing what at Coed y Brenin?????? Llandegla is a bit easier as theres less choice, but Coed y Brenin has a lot of options....... Yesterday, me and wingman Martin Sutton decided on a last minute trip to Coed y Brenin and took on The Beast. We didnt strictly to it right, we did the whole trail, but parked half way around which meant we were at the Visitor Centre for lunch, it also split the 2 huge climbs that people moan is too much fireroad which made it better. For those that have not been recently, the trails have been upgraded and their grading changed. The old MBR and Tarw are now graded Black, cant comment on the Tarw as we didnt do it, but the MBR is included as part of The Beast. There is a lot of big terrain on the MBR now, all of it mainly rollable, but some steep rock drops and sharp rocky corners. So, if you are planning on taking on The Beast, just be warned that its a big long day out and if we start at the visitor centre you will have a long couple of sections of real tough climbs. Its an option for some of us to park in the same spot we did yesterday. We will discuss this more on the Friday evening and suspect well have a few different groups on day that want to ride the Blues/Greens (and possibly some of the smaller Reds), one that wants to ride the Reds and a group that wants to tackle the Blacks. There may even be another group who wants to take on just The Beast.
