So Yashika is back in Mauritius. The relative that abused her - TopicsExpress

So Yashika is back in Mauritius. The relative that abused her received a 2 year prison sentence, that person is now out of prison. Yashika would have finished her exams this summer. Her family had offered to leave the uk of their own accord after she finished her exams. It is true they overstayed their visa, it is true their asylum application was denied. In education the notion of fair and reasonable is key to many disputes and there resolution. This avoids the legal trap of simply applying the law. The law is so often proved inadequate in family disputes, be that between divorcing parents or parents and teachers. Personally I think it would be fair and reasonable to keep this family together. I think it fair and reasonable this child be allowed to complete her education. It is a fact she was bought here as a child and the overstay was committed while she was a minor, she has now been dealt a blow to her education not of her making. In my opinion It would be very fair, reasonable, just and compassionate to at least have granted her time to finish her education. I am truly amazed at our politicians, sadly I am not amazed at the legal failures. Shame on all concerned.
