So a couple of friends point out that there are two firms in Bismarck that are looking for someone that reads right off my architecture and business development resumes. Ive also found a few other firms with openings looking for experienced staff - hope for us old guys. I decide to do a little exercise. What would it cost to rent an apartment, work during the week, catch a Friday night flight back to Minneapolis for the weekend, and fly back to work Sunday night. Heres the average flight - there are variations, but this is pretty typical: Sunday afternoon is MSP to Denver (some of these stop at both Chicago - Chicago? - and Denver). 1 1/2 to 3 hour layover, then fly to Bismarck. Total time: 6 1/2 hours - 9 hours. Friday night is reverse, including the layover in Denver. Advance cost: $550 - $800 round trip (depending on departure time). Chicago commutes are cheaper and quicker!
