So a few weekends ago, I saw a homeless man sitting in front of the grocery store as I got into car. I got back out and gave him all the change I had into pocket. Then I sat down next to him and chatted with for awhile. As I got back into my car, he was staring at me with this look that said thank you for talking to me, thank you for treating me as a fellow human. This look came not only from his eyes but also his soul. I left and went home. I made him a sandwich and put a few other food items in a bag, rounded up a couple of t shirts, a bottle of water and headed back. Took a bit to find him but he was back behind a store. I gave him the goods had a little conversation. As I left there was that look again, deep, concentrated, passionate with gratitude. I have kept an eye out for him every day since but to no avail. This morning I saw him crossing the street, wearing one of the shirts I gave him.
