So, a guy walks into a pizza shop...I went into La Pizzeria on Houston-Northcutt last night to pick up a medium Margherita, said hello to the guy at the register, and the next thing I remember was looking up at the fascinating blood drops on the floor and thinking Oh, snap. Those smashed things are my Robert Marc eyeglasses. The folks at La PIzzeria (the only really good pizza place in Mt. Pleasant) were terrific, especially the matriarch, who was there immediately with an orange juice and a bag of ice for behind my neck. I had them cancel the ambulance and Deb drove me to the ER at East Cooper Medical Center where they did some blood work and a CAT scan and discovered that I had a broken nose that will need some tweaking after the swelling goes down. No real explanation yet. Blood sugar was fine. Ive had a respiratory infection for a week that has made it hard to breathe, a couple of my regular meds can cause blood pressure problems, I may have been sitting in the car too long without getting up. Anyway, some follow up is in order. Good news is that I dont have any pain (and some lovely pain medication if I do), La Pizzeria gave me the pizza for free, and Ill be easy to spot in the Christmas photo.
