So a nice change to our plans! We were meant to do part of Route 66 next week and after reading online articles and talking to various people, it is apparently not what it is! Nice to say you have done it but the original road is in bad condition and the many towns are now totally desolate and a bit of a let down. So looked at various options this week while at Lake Eufaula (as we have to hand the car in and sign another 2,5 month agreement next week as well) and found a 14 night cruise out of Miami being offered at 75% off the listed price! So with no car costs for 2 weeks and no hotels, fuel and food costs, the bottom line was fairly similar! So we fly to Miami today and visit the Bahamas, St Thomas, San Juan, Grand Turk, Roatan, Belize, Cozumel and Grand Cayman. Just going to find a storage place to leave the bulk of our luggage and food and then we fly out. Watch this space.... carnival
