So about that EP... Im sure precisely some of you have noticed INSIDIOSCOPE was due for release in Spring, and that Spring, by any Northern Hemisphere definition, has passed. Its been a while since Ive said anything about this, but I think I have a clear picture on this now so can shed a little light. Firstly - and mostly - I was hoping some new equipment I was hoping to record the bulk of this record with would be ready by then, I could spend two weeks finishing some writing off, record it all, mix it all, master it all and drop it, however this hasnt arrived yet. This has made it somewhat harder to write since the gear Im waiting for plays a big part in how Im going to be able to reproduce the music live, in tandem with the other things, both complete (Unfinity) and in progress (Cartesian Theatre). Im trying some pretty new (to me) and exciting things but until I know exactly how thatll translate to a new setup, it isnt something I want to pursue with too much vigour. Secondly - and in part - Im less of a one-man act than I have been up to this point. I good friend of mine and drummer has offered his talents to me to not only complete the next two records, but also reproduce Unfinity and its sequels in full form in a live setting. This has meant that not only has he had to - quite admirably Ill add - learn Unfinity in full and note perfect, but also, and also admirably, adapt his playing with my writing to keep the slightly chaotic nature of my drum writing in tact. Frankly, hes doing a stunning job of this, but its still been something of a hurdle. One I hope will add to the quality of writing in the next two records infinitely. So with that, I wont be giving a new date for now as I dont know when my new gear will arrive, I will however say that my new accomplice and I are completing at least one minute per week of this record, so the music will be done soon. If youre still reading, which my knowledge of social media will tell me you arent since this isnt a picture of a cat or something controversial, Im also announcing my website which will go live soon(ish) and host all the reviews Ive written over the years, a blog about writing and recording music and some of my own photography stuff thrown in there for a bit of diversity. This will be the place to watch (and comment, share etc) for clips and posts about releases etc soon while I allow my social media channels to become more the typical outlet rather than a home for ramblings like this.
