So after all my ruined stuff was piled into a giant heap in my driveway and all the hordes of volunteers and trucks had gone, it was suddenly very quiet on our ruined street. I walked out front to look at all the destruction, then spied a piece of paper in the gutter. When I picked it up, it was this goofy poster I "modeled" for when I worked at CareerTrack (check it out, Kate Lewis Ward). I had to laugh because it was captioned "Handle tough times better." It certainly was appropriate for the moment. Then I peeled another piece of paper off the back, and it was my original birth certificate! They were in the same room at time of flood, but not stored together. Pretty amazing, I think!
