So again with the Transcendental Meditation/TM thread: The more I look into this, it strikes me as cultish. With Scientology, you have Tom Cruise, Isaac Hayes, etc. and even though TM seems less based in science fiction than Scientology, it seems like you are paying to be taught a TM method, and then you ultimately get to the next TM level at which point you of course pay a guru more. Perhaps my initial interest with TM was because I like and am more predisposed to celebrities like the Beatles, David Lynch, Jerry Seinfeld, Howard Stern, and Martin Scorsese. At any rate, my bank account is empty enough before all this. I think I will just stick with attempting to learn a kind of Thich Nhat Hanh mindfulness, or something.
