So although the fire was a rather sad instance we all managed to have a nice dinner craving a good donut to wrap up the evening, so we went on a search determined not to go home until we found some. The Donut Connection was closed so sadly we turned around and went to take the kids home. Yes they we always be our kids. So David and I journeyed to circle K for one last ditch effort for those longing donuts, and we did need milk, so we walk into a situation where a girl waa trying to buy a few groceries and I could tell she was really shook up but she went about her business and so did we looking at the delicious selection before us and laughing and enjoying our spoiledness if thats even a word but described us perfectly headed to the cash register where the girl was trying to pay for a few items and her food stamp card didnt have enough for her to pay. So.she burst into tears and goes out the door hurriedly. The cashier shares with us that her boyfriend beat her up and she had no more food stamps. David quickly goes out the door to stop her and she hesitated but did come back.and we offer to pay for her minimal food and ask if she needs anything else and she reply a pack of cigarettes would help. So we ask if she needs a ride home and she did. It was down the road far enough that she shouldnt be walking and she tells us that her boyfriend repeatedly would come to her house where her and her young daughter live and give her a really hard time. She shared that she was taking care of her mother who has lung cancer, which touched my heart. We dropped her off, she was very thankful. So Dave and I were both quiet for a while trying to process the events of the evening. As we got home and in our nice warm home we both laid down on our bed and talked about how blessed we are with wonderful children who have beautiful spouses who would never think of disrespecting one another and how blessed we are for all we have, laughing over donuts when this girl was trying to buy a can of spaghettios for her daughter to last until tomorrow. So now with a warm heart and a prayer sent out to that family I will eat my donut and continue with more thoughts of how blessed I am.
