So as Cathryne and Kaelyn were growing up we have always talked about college and after college etc... So unlike some kids, they never grew up with the option of not going to college. A couple years ago they both questioned going to college and was like not everyone goes to college. Of course this is where we shot them down and we let them know that yes not everyone had the opportunity to go to college and some even just chose to not go, but that that was not an option for them. If once they received their bachelors degree if they chose not to use it, fine. THey didnt have to. They could work where ever they chose but that they would always have that degree to fall back on. Now that we have Karleigh growing up now, I have decided to take it a step further. You see... I think that everyone should join the Army (those that are able). No. Not as a career (unless thats what they choose) but go in for a single term. Its a great experience! You get to meet people and see places that you might not otherwise have the opportunity to do. So from now on, we will be raising Karleigh with the expectation that she will be in ROTC while attending college and once she graduates college she can choose to either fulfill her obligation by going active duty or by joining the reserves. Once her obligation has been fulfilled she can choose to either remain in the military (either AD or as a reservist) or she can go on and enjoy the rest of her life living in the civilian world.
