THE VISION----THE DREAM PART TWO PART TWO God is the Giver of dreams. In most cases these dreams or visions are a supernatural revelation of God’s intended plans. The inception phase or the down load is very exciting. The Lord lets us look behind the veil so we can see how He sees us. However, it it important that you realise that the genesis of what God wants you to do, is just that, it is only the beginning. The initial down load is accompanied with a sense of purpose and passion. It’s meant to! It is our life calling. I had an experience like this many years ago. It had a profound effect on me. I had the sensation of being ‘caught up’ in the Lord’s presence for one week. This type of impartation impregnates our heart with heavenly substance. Joseph’s dreams had this type of effect on him. They were so impacting, he just had to tell his family. Unfortunately their responses put in action a series of events that would completely alter Joseph’s view of his call. This often is the first test of the genuineness of the down load - how we deal with man’s negative reactions. After my experience we walked through negative responses from those who we thought would love, support and encourage our calling. Many told us that it was not such a good idea and that we should consider doing something else. Like Joseph, we had to pass this test. So, the first test your dream will go through is criticism or negativity from those around you. Remember, God allows this, therefore it has come to you for you to overcome the fear of man and the need to receive approval. - Death of the Dream Then they said to one another, “Look, this dreamer is coming! Come therefore, let us now kill him and cast him into some pit.” Genesis 37:19-20 God in His infinite wisdom often allows our dreams to go through the death phase. The complete opposite of what has been promised seems to come into our circumstances. During this phase, no matter what we do, we just cannot seem to bring our dream or vision to pass. Abraham must have experienced great frustration - so much so, that he and Sarah took matters into their own hands. Genesis 16:1-2 I must stress that when I use the term “death phase”, I am only referring to what it can feel like, and not a literal death. This time can be really confusing and may produce all kinds of reactions within our souls like, “God its just not fair! I gave up everything for you and what you have promised is not happening.” Or, “I must have heard wrong. Everything that God has promised is not coming to pass.” What was birthed in such life and vitality, now seems to be surrounded by death. You see, this is the second test that our vision goes through - and it can be the hardest part. What we thought was going to release us into freedom, puts our hearts into confinement. This is very challenging for all budding eagles! But what has to die is our perceived ability or understanding on how the vision becomes a reality. In the economy of God, death comes before life. Jesus said it like this, “Unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone. But if it dies, it produces much grain” John 12:24 As a carrier of Divine vision, learning the ways of God is part of your discovery process. Birthing a calling is not just about the ‘doing’. It is mostly about what we become. Ultimately we don’t just carry the message - our lives must become the message. This is the prophetic truth found in the life of Joseph. His life became a prophetic statement about the coming Redeemer. It is during this time that we die to self promotion and our own wisdom on ‘how to do it.’ It is in fact, death to our own resources, abilities and wisdom and is sometimes known as the PIT phase - “Prophets In Training.” During this phase, God is teaching the reality, “Unless the Lord builds the house, they labour in vain who build it.” Psalm 127:1 Like the tower of Babel, building done outside of the Lord’s empowering produces negative outcomes. What we do inside of His empowering, brings kingdom to the earth. During this phase, our positioning is to submit to the work God is doing within, while being transformed by His glory. 2 Corinthians 3:18 To prepare us Alive for the next phase, it is important that we learn to take up His yoke and not the expectations of others. It is during this time that our real satisfaction is not tied up in the work, but in knowing Him. Part Three - Life From the Dead God, who gives life to the dead and calls those things which do not exist as though they did. Romans 4:17. The second phase now becomes our doorway into the third - the resurrection. God is right into life. He has this ability to breathe life into what we might consider as being dead and lifeless. One dream became the doorway for Joseph out of the dungeon into the palace. The resurrection phase is a demonstration of the power of God. During the death phase all our aspirations and plans are dealt a death blow. If we didn’t go through this process, our vision would more than likely be less than God’s intended purpose. Pilate said to them, “You have a guard; go your way, make it as secure as you know how. So they went and made the tomb secure, sealing the stone and setting the guard. Matthew 27:65-66 No matter what man, circumstances or Satan tries to do to hinder the Father’s plans, once the voice of God declares, “Come forth,” Your resurrection is assured. And behold, there was a great earthquake; for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat on it. Matthew 28:2 If we allow the death phase to have its work, God takes over the manifestation of what He originally saw. We can be secure in this because it came from Him in the first place. Joseph really did not have any idea how his dream would be played out. He mostly just wanted recognition and promotion within his family. Yet, the Lord had a much greater vision - the salvation of an entire nation. The death phase is so important because our ‘small concept’ needs to die, so that the supernatural, majestic King of glory can take over and bring forth His purposes in and through us. Once God says, ‘Now is the time.’ Nothing can touch or hinder what God has said. Now that’s real security! Conclusion The end of a thing is better than its beginning. The patient in spirit is better than the proud in spirit. Ecclesiastes 7:8 So, have you been given incredible vision from the Lord, and you feel like it has died on the inside? Don’t give up! Embrace the work God wants to do in you through this trial. And at some point, He will send His angel to roll back the stone that men and circumstances have placed before you, and suddenly what has been promised will break forth in resurrection power
