So as I sit here and think about the meaning of today, I remember being in Washington DC and seeing all the memorials from all the past wars. It was emotional. I am upset at all the men and women that have given their lives in so many wars. And yes, its true, I dont know what the background is for all those wars, but right now I dont need to. There were way to many souls lost and so many of them young men and women. So many of them my sons age. As upsetting as it is, I know that their sacrifice was so that we can enjoy many of the freedoms we have today. A couple years ago I tried very hard to get my son to enlist and I would do so today if he showed interest because I think the need to have those willing to fight for this country and keep what we hold sacred, such as the freedom to raise a bi-racial child, is so very important. To all who have lost loved ones in wars past and present, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for their sacrifice and yours.
