So, as many of you have probably read, im going to BlizzCon to cast the WCS Grand Final Ro8 onwards! I wanted to make a longer post about this because of how much it actually means to me. This will be my first ever BlizzCon, and I just wanted to share a little history with you about why for me, this will be one of the best trips of my life. Maybe you dont really care, but I want you to know how much Blizzard as a company means to me. I remember back when I was 8 or 9 years old, from a very early age I was into gaming but around this age is when my Brother (a year younger than me) and I discovered Blizzard. On my mums side I have a pretty cool Uncle, wed go to his house sometimes and hed play video games on his PC, this is where my brother and I discovered WarCraft 2 and StarCraft. Originally StarCraft was a little difficult for us, so we gave WarCraft 2 a go. We played it a little at his house but never had a PC of our own, so we were a little sad that we couldnt play more. Of all places, the majority of my Blizzard adventure actually started on the Playstation, as we found out the game was also for the PS1. RTS on a console, need I say more. Anyways from that point on, my brother and I were hooked. That love for the idea of fantasy eventually stemmed into things like Warhammer and Lord of the Rings, so from that moment, even the first Blizzard game I played, already had a big impact on my tastes in life. Fast forward a little bit, after playing a lot of StarCraft 1, playing a LOT of WarCraft 3 and the Frozen Throne, Blizzard decided to take their steps into the MMO scene - I think World of Warcraft has had more effect on me than any other game I can think of, aside from StarCraft 2 that gave me a living. Ive played WoW since the very beginning, and it actually took up most of my free time during my College/Uni years. Driving back home from lessons to get back on the grind, Achieve my Battlemaster title very early on, and yes I have a Spectal Tiger. I really dont care how others view WoW in the grand scheme of gaming, because to me, that game symbolizes much more to me than just a game. Its time spent with my friends, solving puzzles together and overcoming the odds. Even now I still play, and will be helping my friends and I kill 20 man mythic stuff in Warlords. Then of course, how can I forget my next Blizzard love, StarCraft 2. It gave me the opportunity to commit to something in my life that I always wanted to, gaming. In any capacity, working around games for me is a dream come true. Then obviously there is WCS. Ive actually cast more WCS than anyone else on the Planet, if you include 2012 nationals as well as the 2013-2014 seasons. Its been a privilage to cast after joining ESL and to get to be at BlizzCon for the crowning of 2014s champion, as I was in China to see PartinG become 2012s world champion, will be amazing. So.. Am I hyped for BlizzCon? You better believe I am. Ive wanted to go for years and years, and getting to go to my first one will be something magical for me, Both for StarCraft and everything else. Thanks for reading - If youre going to BlizzCon too.. I want a hi5 or a hug.
