So at the last school board meeting I was really bothered by the fact that so much of what was done and discussed was due to federal and state regulations. With so many mandates piled on the school board they have no time to really think and customize the education and administration of our schools. And the worst part is, some of those regulations drive up our taxes! So I believe, in the interest of 1) improving the quality of our education, and 2) lowering our taxes and spending, that NJ needs to repeal the Common Core State Standards- the curriculum standards that Washington D.C bribed Trenton to impose on all New Jersey schools, and thus severely interfere with the efficacy of our education and the best use of our hard earned money. I realize there is not much the board of education can do about Common Core- thats the responsibility of our state legislators- however I do want to know if the board has passed a formal resolution opposing common core and calling for its repeal, and if they are persistently vocalizing that opposition, and if they are communicating with our representatives, explaining to them how Common Core is burdensome.
