So; back in the States much sooner than Id planned: my mother, Carol Schneider, died Saturday morning after a (startlingly) brief illness. My sister Holly put this perfectly, so Im shamelessly cut-and- pasting her post on the subject (Id tried to just share her actual post, but one of our privacy settin seems to have made it invisible) This isnt the way it was supposed to go! She went into the hospital on the 14th, with what seemed like possible pneumonia (shed been to the doctors twice in the previous week). Over the next 10 days, they werent able to figure out what was causing all of the inflammation in her lungs, and causing her to not be able to breathe. They threw everything at her that they could think of, but she never recovered. She was supposed to just go in, and 3 or 4 days later, go back home. Thats the way these things are supposed to go. Well miss you Mom. Say hi to Dad for us. This is going to be an awful week, after an awful week. 4 other people admitted the same week, with the same mystery lung illness. Pay attention to lung colds this year! I dont want anyone else to go through this.
