It was interesting to learn that in Portuguese, Italian, Spanish, Arabic, Slovak and other languages, the phrase ‘the play bombed’ might mean it was a success - while in English it means it was a failure. And even if you say this in China and Iran, people will think that the play was a success. It got me thinking how important it is to check that people understand us properly.
