So dear friends , let me introduce myself to you. After doing the deep ancestry DNA test I found out some things I didnt know about my Croatian ancestry , and so have/will my parents Minja Maretić Murtić and Marko Murtic and my close family. I know this is not so interestening to everyone but I wanted to write it all down publicly as its really exciting for me, learning some new aspects of our human identity. My breakdown of general DNA points out that my overall combination of heritage most closely resembles... wait for it... the BRITISH population (!) that was really unexpected. I might not be at the wrong place after all :D (Majas is for example quite strongly set in the Balkans hehe :) ) My maternal (mytochondrial) DNA is group H7a1 which I dont share with Maja and is rare in Europe but in its small numbers most common in Armenia, Slovakia, Croatia and the Jewish Diaspora. It is part of the H haplogroup which in fact is very common and mostly so in Greece, Italy and Central Asia and is apparently part of the founder effect that happened after the European populations dwindled during the last Ice Age and then rapidly spread with agriculture. Thanks mum! For my Y chromosome, branch L-M27, this one is a strange one as it is basically not present in Europe, but Saudi Arabia, Quatar, India and Southeast Asia (Indonesia...), but everywhere only comes in small numbers, so no more than 1-2 % of the population have it. Dad, come on ? WTF? Well being said, my family name Murtić comes from or is most common in Bosnia, and some of our ancestors probably came via the Arab Slave trade (as is mentioned in my results), I can only guess how hard it was for them. However Bosnia was part of the Otoman Empire and that maybe provides some connections to my Southeast Asian bruvs! I am also 2.2 % Neanderthal and 2.5 % Denisovan. This is due to the early hominid species mixing up in the early history of human migrations. This varies from person to person, but I am just slightly less human than Maja for example :)
