So every once in a while this happens to me... With new dentists or doctors or generally new places Im getting some kind of service... Ill show up in my work clothes with my bandana on because I dont want dust in my dreads (anyways thats beside the point) but always always the desk staff will ask each other questions about me or my children instead of asking me... Like I will be standing right there... You know I may be Black but I actually also hold a Nursing degree on my list of credentials and not only am I capable of articulating and answering your questions myself! My kids are EQUALLY capable of answering questions about themselves!!! Yes if youre a person of color sometimes youre treated as if youre incapable of understanding simple things! sigh!! & while Im at it I noticed they have (Spanish Speaker) listed on the list of possible diseases my children might have! You have privilege if ^ has never been your experience!! #WeAreOtheredEveryday!! #WeJustIgnoreItMostOfTheTime
