So excited for Lily and after seeing her newest paintings inspired by her shorter 2012 trip to Antarctica, which you can see at CB1 Gallery in September, Im sure the work that will comes out of this longer residency is going to be even more terrific. For this trip Lily will be able to paint in a studio that shell be setting up in Antarctica and she plans to SCUBA dive beneath the sea ice to observe new subjects thriving in the frigid, otherworldly habitat of the Southern Ocean. Past winners of this residency grant include Werner Hertzog in 2006 where he filmed his movie Encounters at the End of the World and LA artists Lita Albuquerque (2006) and Connie Samaras (2004).
