So far this weekend Ive been talking to some homeless folks I havent met before and listening to how they became homeless is familiar and unique at the same time but there is a commonality of lack of support on all levels including out of touch attitudes like the one that assumes you can just go out and a get a job right away and get out of homelessness and if youre homeless, its because you did something wrong. Thing about that is, homeless people cant force an employer to hire them and if they cant even afford to maintain a job somewhere, ie, transportation, childcare, laundry services, regular showers, etc., not only will they be homeless for longer periods of time, they might get pushed further into poverty because of circumstances that come with daily survival like hoping your car doesnt break down or you dont run out of gas money before payday and forget about buying food! Then theres folks with health issues that wont get better unless they get housed.....
