So for my Dad Rafael Escalera Sr. My siblings Rafael Escalera Al Escalera Esther Escalera and Bobby Escalera and the rest of my Escalera clan on Long Island including the Hector Castro Vanessa Castro Gloria Gargano Ed Rivera and all my Aunts and cousins who helped me . Harvard sent me an email today . 42 years ago this Saturday I moved into Thayer Hall. I was 17 with the help of all my family I was one of the the first Puerto Rican women to be accepted and graduate from Harvard/Radcliffe College . Sonya our supreme court judge had an interview that same year and was going to be my classmate but she choose a school in New Jersey instead (Princeton). Although she would be diagnosed with Breast Cancer a year later . She conveniently waited until I was accept to Georgetown Medical School to pass.
