So for some reason I have been thinking of my grandpa Elmer lately. Not sure why, I do think of him often. This has just been more than normal. He passed away 21 years ago. Once he was stuck in bed and hospice was there, I did everything I could to avoid seeing him. I wanted to remember the good, not the bad. Some days I regret that and some days I dont. I remember hanging out with him on the farm, the smell of his oily clothes and oily garage from working on cars and tractors. I remember riding in the tractor with him. I remember riding horses and him teaching me about horses. I remember eating ice cream with him at night. He used to make popcorn on the stove and pouring lots of melted butter on it. I remember him drinking PBR and putting salt in it. I can see his smile. He used to take his false teeth out and tease us. He always sat in the rocking chair. So many good memories. He meant a lot to me and I miss him dearly, wish my kids could have met him. Some people just leave that mark in your heart and in your mind, that was my grandpa. Cant wait to see him again some day in heaven. Had to share, there must be a reason he is on my mind...
