So guys, I have an epiphany to share with you. Yesterday I posted a pretty negative post about the ALS ice bucket challenge. I got some pretty serious backlash, I was proven wrong in my research, and I admitted it. I was also accused of committing hate speech. I was asked to remove any controversial posts from my page that could be construed as reverse discrimination by my word choice & how I presented it. This was somewhat a punch to my heart. I have never in my life wanted to be categorized as such. Yes, I have a brash opinion at times, but that is what it is, my opinion. I now realize being in the position I am in of operating a business, I am held to a higher standard than if I just worked for someone, which I still technically do, but that is complicated. Anyhow, I just wanted all of you to know I will do my best to not allow my daily struggles to impact how I treat anyone in personal circles and professional. Many of you know we have had some really crazy rough stuff going on right now and I finally let it affect my attitude, so I apologize. I get so mad about many things that quite frankly are unfair and I tend to be too curt in what I feel about how something should be done, supported, acted on, stood up against, etc. Maybe in a prior life I fought in a battle of some sort. But in this life, I want to be a positive influence to others about how to change the way they think on things, be open to how another human being lives, feels and is, not discriminate against those who have no voices, & be a better person in general.
