So here is the scoop: so much support is awesome. You guys know Tracie and Darren. They are the first to say they are richly blessed. Someone asked how people can help and here is my best answer. Pray. If you come to see them, come healthy. Understand that the Jared you may know might not be what you see. He is weak. He is sore. He loves his friends. I dont know if they will continue to let non-family visit, but if they do, please offer him a sip of his water every so often. He might not ask, but he might need that help. I said that part without permission, so forgive me if I was pushy, Tracie Behmlander. This next part is with her permission. If you wanna bring something small, there are so many families who find themselves right where the Behmlanders were on Friday. Youre going along and Bam! Life is scary and unknown and some of them dont have the network that Jared has. There is a room here for Childrens Life Services. They provide support to these children and families. Weve brought a basket and you can overwhelm these folks with things to make their stays a little more convenient or a little less scary. Some donation ideas: Kleenex, individually wrapped toiletries, toothbrushes, etc. Pens, small notebooks. $5 gas cards, $5 starbucks cards. I think these employees in there are social workers. They see the needs of the families better than most of us and can use our stuff to really bless the socks off of people who need it. They said that often, they use donations like these for families whose child is in for a Marathon surgery. You all know that blessing others is what this family is about so if you are at a loss, these are good ways to honor Team Behmlander.
