So heres a story for all you people in Medibank land. I have been a member with Medibank for 4 years now. When I first signed up I was living in Melbourne. I later moved up to Darwin and notified my change of address online. I have now been living in Darwin for the last 2 and a half years. About a month ago I received a letter from Medibank telling me that they didnt adjust my premium for NT and as a result I was entitled to a credit. However they still got the dates wrong as I calculated an amount substantially more than what they stated. They had been overcharging me by $30/months for the past 2 1/2 years. I contacted them and corrected their mistake. I got a refund close to $900 as a result. The problem now lies with the financial loss which Ive incurred as a result of Medibanks negligence. They have been holding on to hundreds of my dollars over the past 2 1/2 years and this has been a set back in me paying off some debt. When I asked them for compensation not only did they refuse to, but they even had the gall to say that this was all my fault for not phoning them after I submitted the change online. What a joke! So I contacted the PHIO and shortly after I was contacted by Medibank who now said they would accept partial responsibility for what happened and offered me half the money I was asking. I refused the offer as it was not enough and its very insulting that Medibank still thinks that I have any responsibility for what happened. So now I am shopping around for a new provider and considering my legal options. I have also contacted Today Tonight with my story. Medibank should be publicly shamed and embarrassed for their negligence, incompetence, and insolence. Has anyone else had this happen to them? #Medibank #QuitMedibankPrivate
