So, heres our great adventure from yesterday. Sue and I picked up my Mom Shirley Lee and then went to Mike Lees and hooked on my pontoon boat. We launched in Desbarats and went fishing for a while over by Whiskey Rock. It was very windy with high waves but I wanted to try Gawas Bay so we headed there. I was aware of a submerged rock we had just missed on a previous outing, but by the time I saw it... well, at full speed it lifted the boat in the air on the right side and gave us quite a jolt. I kept the speed up and headed for the Gawas Bay boat launch to check the damage. Unfortunately, at the same time a battery had shifted and broke a fuel line! By the time I smelled that and repaired it at the boat launch, we had pumped out half a tank of gas. I couldnt see any damage to the pontoon, so even though we were taking on water and listing a bit, we headed back to Desbarats and loaded the boat. Turns out there is a 6 inch opening at the front of the right pontoon. Very thankful we made it back okay, and that Mom got to share in the adventure!
