So heres what happened at the Canadian Wedding Industry Awards! I - TopicsExpress

So heres what happened at the Canadian Wedding Industry Awards! I was so overwhelmed to find out we had won four awards! So much so, I was completely and embarrassingly unprepared to give a speech for our two national awards, one being ‘CANADIAN EVENT DESIGNER OF THE YEAR! I confess, I have been ridden with ‘would have, should have, could have’ type of thoughts regarding my speech ever since. It was totally one of those moments when I walked off the stage, and I second guessed every word that came out of my mouth. Thankful for social media and a second chance to redeem myself and say what really was on my heart. The list is expansive but here are some of things I feel I missed and that have been critical to our success. 1. Firsty, OUR TEAM. For over 20 years we have been blessed with an incredibly loyal and committed staff. They labour tirelessly for the good of the brand we seek to build never saying ‘no’ to our creative challenges. Our two main managers, Jessy and Scott, give far more then they get. Along with our other staff, David and I pray often in thankfulness for these two. We are proud of our team, each one of them and recognize with out them, we would not be receiving any awards. 2. PHOTOGRAPHERS. I did mention the amazing photographers that have shared their images with us over the years and mentioned a few names, while I forgot others that I feel need to be mentioned... Xero Digital , Krista Fox, Corina V. Photogrpahy, Rowell Photography, Mimmo & Co. Etc. I would also like to make mention of something else.. In these ‘social media’ prevalent days, it is easier for us to say thank you for images by tagging and linking back images to the photographer, but years age, before social media, there were photographers who would give us 8 by 10’s of our work for our portfolios with very little pay back, other then the trust that we would promote their work by mouth. To these folks, I say Thankyou, for your kindness. 3 MY FAMILY. MY HUSBAND. I have struggled over the years and since our children were small to find the perfect balance between my personal life and business. Lets face it, the event business is stressful and fast paced. Everyone around our home helps out… Thats just the way it is. Our boys Caleb, Josiah and Jacob have jumped in at all stages of their lives to meet a particular need. My mother from Sault Ste Marie has driven down to be a support in busy times and David’s mom and dad still continue to assist us in any way they can. At 82 my father in law still constructs and builds anything that will better our company. Their love and support is beyond measure. They have helped raise our boys by allowing David and I to have time away alone when we needed it, by cooking meals and making sure they were with their church family when we couldn’t be, and by praying with them while we were away. Then there is David. There just are no words to describe his commitment to me our family and our companies success. David is the ultimate husband and dad. While dealing with the stresses of running his own draping company David always has time for me and for the boys. I can not count the times he would be with the boys all day showing horses then work all night then drive 3 hours to be with the kids and horses again. Thank you David for keeping your promise 23 years ago. 4. GOD.. Lastly, I don’t want to sound ‘thank you speech cliche’ here but those who know me know, that I have to thank my heavenly father for blessing us in the way that He has. As a young girl, I accepted Gods gift of grace and mercy and it changed my life, my perspective. I appreciate so much the accolades of many who have sung our praises and enjoyed our work, but heres the real deal. Any creative talent that I might have is only because it was given to me from above. Yes, I have chosen to use it with in the industry I love but ultimately it was God who created in me a love for colour, texture, and design. Its not like I ‘achieved’ this talent by myself so I want to be mindful of that. If I have attained any creative gift, it is only from the hand of God. David and I constantly commit our little business to God’s care. So much is out of our control but we know its in His. Safety on the roads for our staff, health, and you name it.. We just can’t control some circumstances that can so deeply affect a companies success. We don’t know what future holds but we know the One who holds the future. Krista Fox Photography, Corina V.
