So i saw this post on instagram that said: You got $500 Rent due $425 Car repair $350 Probation $475 Which 1 you paying? Now poor grammar aside, my problem with this post (posted and then reposted by an African American man then woman) WHY is probation even on this list? Rent cool something that we all deal with, car repair cool...for those who drive..it happens...but probation? Dont get me wrong this would be a problem for some but including it in a list with things that applies to almost everyone suggests that probation for us African Americans is normal!!! And when i asked the young woman who posted it why probation is part of the post she stated I have no clue, guess it was based off society right now almost everyone down to celebrities on probation IS THIS REALLY THE MINDSET OF OUR GENERATION??!! That statement (almost everyone...on probation) is 100% FALSE. Statistically there are more people who HAVENT had any kind of run in with the law than those who have. Why not rent, car repair, student loans. Why not rent, car repair, groceries. Why not rent, car repair, school books? Shit really pissed me off and to know there are people out there who actually think that all of our black people are going to jail and/or on probation is absolutely ridiculous. Why focus on the negative when there is so much positivity in the world?
