So it was an organized demonstration; Obviously for publicity, and was only a short walk from the boarder crossing in san Diego. The goal was to confront boarder patrol and instigate violence on camera likely to smear boarder patrol agents and create a public outcry. Id bet there would be instant organized condemnation of boarder patrols violent tactics by advocacy groups just seconds after the video posted. Id bet most of them crossed into mexico from san Diego and walked over there to instigate violent conflict. Note the well dressed guys hiding out of view from bp agents. Looks like a few white hipsters in the croud too. Not in the front of course but there none the less.
