So its 2015 and you are ready to lose weight and get into great - TopicsExpress

So its 2015 and you are ready to lose weight and get into great shape??? Lets just examine how hard it really is to lose 20, 30 or even 50+ pounds. As we know each pound of body fat consists of 3500 calories. To lose 20 pounds of body fat that means that the body must have a caloric deficit of 70,000 calories. To lose 50 pounds it now becomes 175,000 calories that you have to burn off in access of what you are taking in. So how hard is it to do? To lose 50-100 pounds safely in a year you would need to have approximately a 1000-2000 calories a week deficit or 200-400 less calories a day than you can burn off. For a woman that might be total caloric intake of 2000 cals of protein/fats/carbs that are high quality, unprocessed foods. The snacks in the evening or hidden calories quickly add up daily and for most people without a plan they never see the scale move. I have seen individuals lose 100 pounds in a year and a few of them were my clients. Its obviously doable. Its harder to lose the last 20 pounds than it is to lose the first 20 pounds of 100. With that said the keys to losing 20+ pounds and KEEPING it off are the following based on my experience: 1. They cut out sugars and as much processed food as possible 2. They monitor their calories daily 3. They are consistent - training 5 times a week for 10 weeks and then burning out is not as good as 2 times a week for 52 weeks. 4. They are not obsessed with the scale - they are focused on fitness and being active - the scale will drop with 1-3 in place 5. They do not use food for comfort - they use it as fuel and eat cleaner food and less quantity. So 2015 can be extremely successful for you - but do you have a plan to make that happen? The nice thing from what our SF team members have told us is that the accountability of the training program is very helpful. It keeps them on that 52 week focus and their teammates help to inspire them. I included the Queen song Another One Bites the Dust here. Its a good way to keep motivated if you think about how many others are going to be biting the dust in their fitness goals as we approach February and March. Dont bite the dust - focus on the long term and consistency and 2015 will be the year you make lasting change.
