So its been a long time since Ive updated on Sonny. Honestly we have been super busy this summer. First, we went to Carolla, NC. This trip Was Sonny and Liams first beach vacation! The first few days Sonny did not want to get anywhere near the water. He stayed under the shade and played with the sand toys. But on day three mom and dad decided to nudge him a little and built him a small tide pool that would fill up when one of the waves came up the beach. At first he adamantly protested, but when the pool was full and the waves would splash, it was enough to spark his interest and by the end of that day he and his sister Lucy were running and chasing the waves up and down the beach! Alas that week went by too fast. We came home and were greeted by a large pool of water in our Kitchen! A valve on the dishwasher was broken and water had been draining out onto the floor! The linoleum was disgusting and had started growing some yucky nasties under it. The kitchen cabinets had been water damaged as was a good portion of the wall on both floors. Fortunately homeowners insurance has given us enough money to replace and repair the damaged parts of our home. And thanks to Sonnys grandparents and their home care expertise, we have managed to cut out most of the cost of labor by doing stuff ourselves. In getting this help we were able to buy flooring to REPLACE ALL THE DIRTY CARPET IN THE HOUSE! This is a HUGE blessing because of the dirt and germs that are in these 15-20 year old carpets. We are so grateful to my parents and many of our local family members for volunteering their time to help us out. We still have a LOT of work to do, but it will be worth it to have a nicer, CLEANER. Home for our family. Michael does not want to post any pictures of our work until it is completed but we will show off our work soon! *forgot to add this leaky dishwasher seems like a terrible thing to happen but it really is a blessing in disguise! Had it not been for the faulty dishwasher, we would probably never have been able to fix up our home. Gigi and Grandpa opened their home to this rowdy family of 5 for a few weeks to get through the dusty parts of renovating. This too is so special to us because it also cut down on the cost and it was 100 times cleaner than having to live in a hotel room!
