So .. its not very often that I have to make choices like this .... its even less often that I choose a non-aggressive option. I deleted a friend this morning instead of voicing my opinion on his views and posts over the last few weeks. Racism and gender bias are still very real, and will continue to grow in the hearts and minds of every generation until we stop rasing VICTIMS. We live in the greatest country in the world. We are surrounded by opportunities. Now, what YOU CHOOSE to do with them is completely up to you. If you make bad choices, end up in the wrong places, or associate yourself with people who have only their best interest in mind, chances are... you will end up with a less than favorable outcome. True story, Ive seen me do it. These outcomes are not based on my ethnicity, or my gender .... they are based on MY CHOICES. Ive been discriminated against, Ive been racially profiled, Ive had racial slurs hurled, and Ive been in more than one fight simply because Im a fair skinned, grey eyed, female. But never .. ever ... will I teach my children to expect it or accept it because theyre white. In 1776 our ancestors were declared FREE and EQUAL. Indian, Chinese, Irish, Polish, and African slaves were set free from debts and chains, and so began the true fight for freedom... freedom to choose. Choose not to be ignorant. Choose to break a stereotypical mold. Choose not to hate, based on color, religion, or social class. Grow up. This isnt white America anymore... thank god. We are ONE NATION. Like it or leave it .... but please dont make the mistake of thinking racism is OK and that it should be passed on to our children. I will never teach my children that the color of their skin, or gender defines them... and I also will never tolerate the assumption that I or my children should feel some sort of guilt, or in anyway apologize for being white. History is to learn from... but it is still THE PAST. I can guarantee that NO ONE in my friends list has either personally owned or been a slave of any sort. We cant improve our future by living in the past. Its time to start rasing VICTORS ... weve had enough victims already.
