So lately Ive noticed that a lot of people are shaming the release of The Interview due to their problems with its content. You may be right that some points within the movie are racist, and this might cause you to believe that it shouldnt have been released. However, if we continue to try to hinder free speech we are no better than North Korea or the Islamic State (ISIS). The United States was built on the idea of guaranteeing its citizens basic human rights such as freedom of press, speech, and religion. Im not saying you have to agree with the release of The Interview, but condemning it because you disagree with its content is basically what North Korea (a country that has been compared with the Nazi Regime in Germany) did. So write about why you think The Interview is racist and have a dialogue with your peers, but do NOT say that it shouldnt have been released. Freedom of speech is arguably the most sought after freedom in the world, and taking it for granted only does our country and your fellow Americans a disservice.
