So, let me tell you a story about how yesterday my daughters finally believed (without a shadow of a doubt ) that their angels are always on hand to take charge of a situation when called upon in full faith. They have always believed, but I guess being so young have not had the opportunities to call upon them anywhere near as much as their mother has over the years ! Anyway, it is Neshus best friends birthday today and she had planned and executed almost all of the surprise and the small, small gifts she had planned to give her. Well, to cut a long story short, we had to collect the last gift from a certain shop before 6pm. Now the best laid plans and all that, long and short of it, we were still 35 mins away from the shop and caught in rush hour traffic on the motorway. Even if i could have put my foot down, I knew deep down we wouldnt make it but suggested to the girls that we request the angels to step in... After a fair bit of eye rolling (that Mama was not really taking her life and death predicament too seriously ) Neshu agreed and offered up a heartfelt plea to the angels to get us there in time in order for her to collect the last, yet most important gift. She then insisted Zara and I offer up additional back up requests, which we duly did though I told her she must have complete faith in her own plea, which in all honesty she seemed to do by that point. It was now 5.50pm and not looking good, then Neshu had the inspirational idea ( I suspect divinely guided) to call up the shop. She did and it turned out that the shop had actually closed at 5.30pm, but a staff member had stayed back. Anyway, she turned on the charm but it turned out that the last one had been sold earlier that day. The very kind salesman told her another branch was open til 8pm (a further 10 miles still) and Neshu requested him to call them up to see if they had it. Now considering the shop was closed and this poor chap was probably ready for home, even I thought she was pushing her luck. However, he duly obliged, called her back and told her the other branch had sold out too. She thanked him, looked out of the window as i drove and I knew she was trying very hard not to cry, she was totally gutted. About 5 mins later her cell rang, and it was the chap in the shop. He had gone into the basement where more stock was kept, rummaged about and yes, found one of what she wanted. He told her he had to lock up but he would wait for us to arrive outside the shop. Oh joy of joys, we arrived 10 mins later to see him sitting on a bench waiting outside with the gift. Bear in mind this is not a one man band shop, it is a medium sized retail chain, so the chances of this type of thing happening were pretty slim. Now tell me, who else could have orchestrated this wonderful chain of events but the angels who when trusted, find beautiful ways to help us out..... :) xxx
