So lets talk arrow head material. I currently use the conventional method of building up the shaft to a half inch diameter with duct tape and capping it with a penny. Then I proceed to use pool noodle for the body of my arrow head and couch cushion for the actually striking tip. NOT. These are the worst materials you can use for arrows and I would kick you off my field in an instant if I caught you using them. but in all seriousness I actually do build the shaft up with duct tape and then cap it with a penny. What I actually use for my arrow heads is shaped shield plank foam for the cone or backing of my arrow (the part behind the blunt) and then two layers of 3/8s of an inch thick sturdy closed cell foam in front of the blunt and then finally I use half of a 2 1/2 inch wide stress ball for the striking tip. And I use dap contact cement to put this all together. I usually sew cloth covers for my arrows, but Im actually going to start using opaque stockings as they tend to be lighter and require less work. Im not sure how it will affect drag or air resistance but only time will tell. The picture shows all of the materials I use and the large piece of grey foam behind them is what I use if I dont have the lighter green foam. So what do you guys and gals think? --Will Heartless
