So many Americans are running on high octane. The American dream - TopicsExpress

So many Americans are running on high octane. The American dream has been defined by secularists who ignore the Bible as having more and more stuff and being known far and wide. Of course, the Bible has something different to say. In Proverbs, it says Better a dry crust with peace and quiet than a house full of feasting, with strife. The term feasting refers to having great feasts or dinners which only the wealthiest folks could afford. During Bible times, these feasts could include many dozen or even hundreds of people at your home. In the book of Psalms, it tells us even in laughter, the heart can ache. It is quite easy to go from party to party, event after event, engagement after engagement, feeling empty inside. Deep inside our hearts, we are searching not for fame or fortune, but peace, joy, and purpose. I have met so many people, mainly overseas, who have practically nothing in this world but their smiles radiate from within. Their dry crust (being poor) of bread is accompanied by a walk with God. You may be pursuing the American dream, but in the end, it will leave you empty and alone among many possessions and so called friends. Why not seek spiritual peace and quite and watch the smile on your face grow wider and stronger.
