So many wonderful people helped make our latest short film a reality, from the inspiration I received from my awesome WEST professors over the last year plus (Kimberly Holcomb & Dr. Andrea Herrera) to the inspiration drawn from David Foster Wallaces concept of The Water (there is a very specific scene in the film that homages this concept and him, hint, his name is mentioned-ish). They gave me the tools to further use my artistic voice to take on the patriarchy via film. Dr. Robert Dassanowsky, my film studies adviser and dare I say, mentor, also helped me secure the space on campus (#UCCS) to shoot the scene we set in a college classroom, and after many hours chatting in his office last semester, inspired me to do a feminist oriented film. Not by any direct push in that direction (and not that I needed that push as the podcast had me tracking that way for years as did my WESTie side) but through a long and impassioned discussion of so many wonderfully subversive feminist filmmakers that I wanted to focus my camera in that direction. Our films driven and talented composer who delivered a stirring score for the short, Adam Hooper. Our paths crossed somewhat fortuituously via another talented director you should all check out (Marco Aurelio) while looking at an internship possibility, and the pieces all fell together like they were meant to be from the beginning. Last but not least, there was my exceptional and brilliant cast, who shone so bright at times, my lack of lighting equipment wasnt really an issue. I wont tag them all here as Ive already tagged a few folks...but they are Erica Erickson, Desireé Myers, Michael Lee, Kacie Vance, Michelle Dawn Sharpe, and Mark Lutinski. Okay, so I lied about the not tagging them all. Thanks to everyone. I couldnt be prouder of the work we did together this Spring and Summer. Enjoy the fruits of our labor with Lather Rinse Repeat (our 11th short film).
