So much for Star Trek. Apparently there could never be a computer big enough (using current hardware) to store the file representing the craft model (again assuming it uses present-day tech). Even if we discovered some insanely, apocalyptically powerful mechanism to generate the kind of impulse power wed need to enable a plausibly affordable construct (closer to say the mass of the Apollo rockets than a planet) to theoretically reach within the ballpark of 299,792,458 m/s it would take trillions of years for it to accelerate to that velocity. What does this mean to you? It means were impossibly alone. We only have each other and one planet to share between us, and thats probably not going to change. Were locked inside a never-ending house party with less room, food and drink to go around every second; we cant leave and we certainly cant call the neighbours to ask if theyll share the load or help out when things inevitably get out of hand. Its up to us to keep the peace and prevent our house from burning down around us.
