So, my ASD diagnosed 8 year old went into his mainstream p4 year - TopicsExpress

So, my ASD diagnosed 8 year old went into his mainstream p4 year happy and fairly co-operative for him. They were going to put him in one class then decided another would be a better fit *without much explanation beyond we feel he will fit better with the other children*....well after about 5 months of it I am keeping him home till they sort this out! He is in a class with two teachers job sharing, while he seems okay with one, he is afraid of the other and cries at the thought of speaking to her! He refuses to do anything a lot of the time for either and just sits saying nothing to anyone. Its bad enough he has several pupil assistants (so he doesnt become attached) He clashes constantly with one boy in his class so much so I had to ask for them not to be near each other in class. After yet another incident at school yesterday, he was in floods of tears begging me not to make him go back to the class, saying he is afraid to ask to go to his quiet place in case he cries in front of everyone. That he only wants one teacher. I have told them he needs to be moved into the other P4 class, he can only deal with one teacher, the headmaster replied with he cant, if you choose to move him to another school thats your choice. 5 years on from a diagnosis, and after making reasonable progress, we are slowly declining back in behaviour. The mail I received reads like its all my sons fault while everyone there is bending backwards for him. Cant imagine some of this could be down to them expecting a child on the autistic spectrum to deal with day on, day off teachers, one of whom called him a naughty boy with too much control at our last meeting on Friday! And the other one has told him in front of the class he is just like any other child, that he is just being naughty if he says he cant do something or he says he needs to go to his quiet place, she frightens him so much he cries at the thought of speaking to her now! AGGGGHHHH!! Am going to an Autism advice place tomorrow, feeling very alone right now!
