So my feed is overflowing with Modi/Election articles commentary, etc. Just thought I would put my two paisa out there. 1) Congress and BJP are two prongs of the same party. They are funded by the same groups, in the same proportions. They have similar rhetoric, similar demographic bases, and argue for the same basic agenda. 2) The difference between having one in power and the other is 5%. Unfortunately in India that 5% means the lives of 75 million Indians. Gujarat is pretty much in the same place pre/post Modi, except that lakhs of people were ghettoized, and about the same number thought that the offices moved faster, and the bribes they spent were money well spent. 3) Last election, 62% of the voters voted for BJP-INC. Now 50% voted for the same. Despite what the media is telling you, this election is the first time since 1996 that the country said, we dont want either of the two big giants. We want democracy. Unfortunately, the system worked against us there. 4) Modi-operandi, BJP governments usually have a lot of violent direct action by Hindu fundamentalist groups in their first year. This will be the first thing to worry about.
