So my friend Luke assigned me the Coen brothers, for this this chain-letter game to help spread the word of GREAT movies and GREAT directors rather than hear more about the crap that is released weekly that falls flat, or leaves you with an empty wallet and a disappointment you cant shake. If you like or comment on this post, I may assign YOU a director and you can go on a rant about them. For now, lets talk about the world of Coen. Im supposed to just mention one movie of theirs and be done with it, but theres just too much gold in these hills, too much jelly in these doughnuts, to narrow it down. Lets see what theyre responsible for: The Big Lebowski Fargo O Brother, Where Art Thou? Intolerable Cruelty Raising Arizona Barton Fink Millers Crossing No Country For Old Men True Grit These guys are capable of SO MUCH. Their writing is impeccably intriguing, their shots are beautiful, and their characters are ADORED. The one movie Id like to focus on isnt necessarily their best movie ever. Its not as suspenseful as No Country, or as bizarre and memorable as Lebowski. No, Id like to draw attention to an underdog in the Coenverse. Burn After Reading George Clooney, Frances McDormand, John Malkovich, Tilda Swinton, Richard Jenkins, J.K. Simmons, and Brad Pitt play the goofiest bunch of people mixed up in a conspiracy and a grave misunderstanding simultaneously. It has twists youd never expect and turns cant wait to see and it only feels like an hour long. It is definitely one to check out, and if you havent seen any of the others up above? Well then shame on you. They are all fantastic and rich with incredible performances and a very unique Coen Bros. charm. Heres one of the reasons Burn After Reading is amazing. A very panicked ex-CSI Analyst played by Malkovich, meets with IDIOT personal trainer Chad (Pitt) to make a deal. https://youtube/watch?v=NrKT3dOpLVk
