Why have testimonials? 1. Testimonials build trust (you may not believe me, but you will believe others, who are “like you”) 2. They provide ‘social proof’ Ranking of Testimonial types (ascending order) 1. Success Stories – about one of your clients, in your words 2. Written testimonials – in their own words 3. Written, with a photo 4. Audio 5. Audio, with a photo 6. Video is great – can be turned into audio or written 7. Featured in newspaper 8. Featured on book cover 9. Client featured in the media (positively of course) Note that to be more effective testimonials should have the names/company name of the provider, not just initials (overcomes the suspicion that they are made up) and of course location. This elevates the credibility of the testimonial.
