So, my status tonight might be kind of lengthy so feel free to pass this one by if needed.... A few days ago, I read an article on here about kids and sports and the stuff we, as parents, arent saying and showing them. It really got to me so I thought Id take that lesson and use it on Carter tonight. Our team, the Cubs, had a really great season but didnt finish well in the tournament. Tonight was our last game. After the game, Carter, disappointment and frustration all over his face, made is way over to me.... Instead of doing my usual routine of telling him what he could have done differently or singing his praises, I took a different approach.... I leaned in, whispered in his ear, and said I love to watch you play. And he smiled. And hugged me tight. It was what he needed. Its the truth. Watching my 3 kids (and Joshs 2) play sports, is one of the things that I enjoy most. I know it. Josh knows it. Most of my friends and family know it. But, do my kids really know it? Im hoping that tonight, I took a step in the right direction, and can continue showing my children just how proud I am of them.... In everything they do. They are my world. And..... I love watching them play.
